A typical school year at Berkshire Hills Academy includes academic learning, life skills training, vocational fieldwork and community involvement; among other things. Here is a look into what is offered in a typical school year.
Music Classes, Lessons & Ensembles
Academics & Life Skills:
Alongside musical courses students at Berkshire Hills Academy also learn important life and vocational skills. Computer skills training teaches students how to perform tasks on computers as well as how to navigate the Internet. Each learning opportunity is unique and tailored specifically for the students so they can learn to the best of their ability and take advantage of all courses offered.

The Berkshire Hills Music Academy caters towards students with special musical talent. Students have the opportunity to explore their particular musical interest while expanding their understanding of music, both performance and theory.

Performance Music and Human Service Supervised Fieldwork Master Classes Ensembles (Jazz, Pop, Rock, Folk, Original Rock, World Music, Percussion, World Drum, Dance, Reggae, & Vocal)
Students are encouraged to participate in physical activities, both because they are healthy and fun. Students often swim in the Mount Holyoke College supervised swimming pool. Students are encouraged to participate in one of the many Special Olympics teams. Dance classes are a great outlet for students looking to have fun and interact with peers and teachers.

Being located in the Five College area of the Pioneer Valley there are many chances to interact with local college students. College students come to Berkshire to intern, volunteer and work. The Best Buddies program at Mount Holyoke College brings Mount Holyoke students together with Berkshire students, creating friendships that enrich the lives of those involved. Students at Berkshire Hills Academy enjoy having local college students as friends, mentors and assistants.

Life skills are not just taught in the classroom but in the real world as well. Day trips are arranged once a week to practice life skills, going out to lunch and then to visit different local attractions.
