Summer Extension Program
The ten-week Summer Extension Program is open to students who have successfully completed at least one year of our Two Year Certificate Program. This program is designed specifically to focus on life skills, vocational skills, and meal preparation.
Residential and music staff oversee this program, monitoring and facilitating all learning and vocational training over the summer months. Students live at the Academy or may be day students while they attend the Summer Extension Program.
The Summer Extension Program is structured to bridge the school year programs to the summer programs. BHMA’s philosophy encourages independence during the summer and self-advocacy in decision making regarding shopping choices, recreation and leisure management choices, and meal preparation. Students are encouraged to work on vocational skills and those ELC students who have employment are able to keep their jobs through the summer months.
