Residential Life
The Academy is housed in the former estate Skinner Family estate; once referred to as "The Orchards" this property is rich in natural beauty, with ample grounds for outdoor games and activities. Our students enjoy communal spaces such as the computer lab and student lounge where they congregate for Wii bowling tournaments and movie nights. Here, our students live and work together, forming lasting friendships.
Student dormitories are located on the second floor of the Academy and are divided into men’s and women’s wings with communal bathrooms in each wing. Residential students are usually paired with a roommate based on year of enrollment and personal interests, though occasionally private rooms may be arranged (subject to availability and at an additional cost). Each student is supplied with a bed, desk, dresser, and armoire or closet.
Students are expected to wake between 6:00am and 7:00am to be ready for Morning Meeting by 8:00am. Overnight Residential Assistants are available to help our students with morning routines including: help with grooming, morning medications, and preparing breakfast so students are ready promptly for their daily Morning Meeting.
Students and staff enjoy eating their meals together, prepared on site by our chef or by our students. The meals are served family style in the beautiful dining room throughout the week and weekend.
Our main objective in the Residential Program is to help foster the growth of our student's independence in life skills and social skills. Life skills are taught by our Life Skills instructor and supported by our Residential Advisors in daily applications.
