


Eileen Markland
Director of Music Performance
Eileen Markland is a performer, composer, and music educator with over 20 years of experience. A Suzuki-trained teacher specializing in violin, viola, and cello, she completed her training at the Hartt School of Music and Ithaca College. Eileen holds a bachelor’s degree in music performance from Ithaca College and pursued additional studies in Music Therapy and Music Composition at Berklee College of Music.
She has taught in a variety of educational settings—including traditional, Montessori, long-term care, and Waldorf environments—bringing a flexible and inclusive approach to music education.
As a performer and recording artist, Eileen remains active and collaborative. Her recent projects include Misty Blues: Tribute to Odetta I and II, and she performs regularly with contemporary ensembles such as Kilashandra, Fannie Pack, The Berkshire Trio, and Bing’s Strings. She is a former section violinist with the Albany, Binghamton, and Berkshire Symphonies.
Eileen also served as an American Cultural Specialist, traveling to West Africa to lead three U.S. State Department-sponsored AIDS education tours that used music and the arts to engage communities and promote awareness.
