On Thursday, October 22, 2026, the BHMA Flute Trio and Hartford Flute Ensemble (HFE) came together for a collaborative concert celebrating the fall and the spooky season. The Trio and HFE treated guests to familiar works such as Drunken Sailor, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, and Harry Potter Theme, before ending the night with a combined performance of a lively Celtic suite composed by Herman Beeftink.

A special thank you to Paul Coffill, BHMA instructor and a member of HFE, who spearheaded the evening. This concert was presented as part of "BHMA Presents," a new concert series designed to bring guest artists and together with BHMA performers together for live performances on the campus that celebrate collaboration, creativity, and the talents of the adults in our community.

About Hartford Flute Ensemble

The Hartford Flute Ensemble (HFE) made its debut in the summer of 2018 and was founded by Artistic Director Gonzalo Cortes. Based in the Greater Hartford area of Connecticut, HFE is dedicated to celebrating and promoting the rich and diverse repertoire written for the flute—from solo and chamber music to large flute ensemble works. The ensemble was created to provide a welcoming community for flute enthusiasts and musicians of all levels, offering opportunities to develop as performers, share knowledge, collaborate with other musicians, and experience the unique sound of a flute ensemble.

HFE performs a rich and challenging repertoire spanning classical, contemporary, popular, and seasonal music. Over the years, the ensemble has performed at St. Patrick–St. Anthony Church, the West Hartford Shakespeare Festival, Farmington Public Library, The Hartt School, the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, and Aviva West Hartford, its home performance venue. Through concerts, educational programs, and community performances, the Hartford Flute Ensemble continues to bring the distinctive and beautiful sound of the flute to audiences throughout the Greater Hartford area.

Our next on-campus concert takes place on November 19, 2026 at 5:30pm. BHMA’s Jazz Ensemble joins forces with the acclaimed Misty Blues Band for a funky night of blues, jazz, and musical collaboration. Learn more here. And this is just the beginning!
